The Python programming language is an open-source language that has gained tremendous popularity since it was originally created in the 1980s. Some of the largest companies such as Google, Spotify, and Instagram utilize Python to run their applications.

While I always seek to first deliver a solution using existing infrastructure (it’s usually quicker and cheaper!), there are some times where it’s best to code it from scratch. In addition, some one-off projects/extracts can be quickly written in Python code whereas designing a full-bore solution would actually end up being overkill and over budget.

Here are just a few examples of programs which can be written in Python which I find support the rest of my skillset mentioned on the Services page.

• Create scripts to transform data and transfer data files for consumption into other systems
• Develop simple desktop applications
• Support a data analytics platform by leveraging Python’s many data science related packages
